Merger of GPC & Penn's Woods; contest for new shoulder strip patch

Check out the Press Release about the merger on http://www.gpc-bsa.org/.

Here's your chance to design the next shoulder patch worn by thousands of Scouts in the new Council!
The top five designs will be selected on May 12, 2011 and we will work with our vendor to create the final artwork. From May 16 to May 21, 2011 the top five designs will be posted online and every member of the Laurel Highlands Council will have the opportunity to place their vote to select the official Laurel Highlands Council Shoulder Patch.

The Laurel Highlands Council will produce 500 numbered sets of the top five designs that will be available for purchase at the annual meeting on June 7, 2011 at Camp Twin Echo. Any remaining sets will be available through the council website after the meeting. This will be the only production of the 4 runner up patches. Proceeds from this patch sale will offset the costs of the Council Camporee to be held at Heritage Reservation.

Further, the first 250 Scouters to register and attend the Council Annual Meeting on June 7, 2011 at Camp Twin Echo will receive one of the first 250 numbered Council Shoulder Patches.

The top five designers will receive:

#1 Design – A session of summer camp, $250 Scout shop gift card and a set of the top 5 designs.

#2 Design – $250 Scout Shop gift card and a set of the top five designs.

#3 Design – $200 Scout Shop gift card and a set of the top five designs.
